By default, Swift Shift is set up to send messages in three different ways: email, SMS and "push" -- notifications that go directly to your mobile app. Here's how to control which messages you receive and how they are sent to you.
Mobile Push Notifications & Email
In the image below, you'll see the Notifications Settings screen. You can access this screen by clicking the "hamburger menu" in the top left corner of the mobile app. When the menu slides out from the left, choose "Notifications".
In the Notifications Settings screen there are several options for the types of notifications we regularly send and to the right of each one, there are two icons: a mobile phone and an envelope.
The phone represents messages that are sent to your mobile (called "push notifications") and the envelope represents messages sent via email.
You can decide which notifications you would like to receive and how you would like to receive them.
- Push & SMS -- touch both the mobile and the envelope icons until they both turn green
- Push only -- touch the icons until the mobile icon is green and the envelope is grey
- Email only -- touch the icons until the envelope icon is green and the mobile icon is grey
- None (not recommended) -- touch both icons until they are both grey
Once you've made all your changes, click the tick in the top right corner to return to the menu screen. If you decide that you don't want to save then touch the red X in the top left corner and anything you may have changed will be ignored.
If you've turned off all your email notifications but still feel that you're receiving too many notifications you can easily unsubscribe by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in the email footer. It looks like this:
Hopefully we aren't sending you too many emails. If you think we are, please feel free to let us know.
From the Open Shifts options you can go directly to the Sites setting and update which Sites you receive Open shift notifications from. Simply touch "Open Shifts" and you will be taken to the Site List screen. Once you've updated your selections touch the red tick in the top right corner and you will be returned to the Notifications screen.
The system can also send you a reminder message shortly before your shift is due to start. You can customise how far ahead (in hours) we send you the reminder by touching "Shift Reminder" and editing the number with your keypad. To accept the changes touch the red tick in the top right corner.
SMS notifications are enabled by default for all users who don't use our mobile app. If you download the app and login with an email address and password, you will automatically be switched from receiving SMS messages to receiving Push Notifications.
Notification Blackout Times
If you don't mind receiving notifications, but would prefer not to receive them while you're asleep, you can set a 'blackout period' each day when we will not send any notification messages.
If you enable the blackout period, we will hold any notifications until the blackout period has ended and then we will send you any new notifications that occur after that.
To update your blackout period, go to the bottom of your Notifications Settings screen where you have two options. You can
- Turn the blackout period on or off and
- Set the hours for the blackout period if it's turned on.
To turn the blackout period on/off simply touch the slider to the right - if it's green, it's on and if it's gray it's off.
Blackout Period - Off
If the blackout period is set to "off" you will receive all messages at the time they are sent.
Blackout Period - On
If you've turned on the blackout period, you will not receive messages between the hours listed. To change the hours, simply touch the clock icon and a settings screen will appear.
Touch the start and end time on the screen and set the time for each. Touch "Done" once you're finished.
Once you've made all your changes to the notification preferences, touch the red tick in the top right corner.
That's it, you're done! All your notification settings have been updated.
